This workshop guide I found very interesting. I found Scott captured the broader picture that captured the stigma surrounding HIV and how this fit and acted out in the broader demographic context of society. I particularly liked the introduction of the avatar Jane who made the workshop information friendly. I found the information interesting and it would be a great guide for anyone facilitating a workshop on HIV. The information was clear and concise and it could used by anyone needing to facilitate a course.The workshop information was inclusive and gave good ideas what to consider when delivering the information to different groups.Product details

This book offers a very well organized step-by-step process for offering and managing a peer support group program for people living with HIV.
The structure of the book includes an overview, course structure, rubrics, exercises and additional resources presented in straightforward, plain language. There are printable forms included, along with helpful scripts to support novice and experienced facilitator alike.
The overarching philosophy of ethical, mindful, member focused support make this book useful not just to people living with HIV, but also for friends and family of patients, and for professionals in the field. I would go so far as to say the book provides a template for creating peer support programs in other other health areas, while never losing sight of the specific issues faced by people living with HIV.
This is a great resource. It's very practical and easy to read. The video clips and audio at the beginning of some chapters gave me direct access to the author and the way he thinks. It's clear he has many years of experience doing this sort of work and his insights are really helpful. I loved the cartoon character 'Jane' too. She walks you through each section of each of the sessions in the workshop guide. If you're doing this sort of work with people who have HIV, I really recommend this book.
The book is easy to read and navigate through and offers many practical tips for facilitation and group processes. It explains complex concepts in straightforward terms, important in a field (HIV) rife with technical jargon and acronyms. I would like to have seen more diversity in the people represented in the drawings- all looked young and able and urban and those living with HIV are so very diverse. The dedication page had a photo of one person but quoted two people so I was not sure who was represented in the photo. Overall though, a much needed, user-friendly guide. Kudos to Scott and collaborators.
